Call for Application for Media 21 Africa: Journalism and climate change

The call for applications is aimed at media organisations, independent journalists and/or bloggers based in Kenya, Tanzania and Madagascar who wish to develop or enhance their content in relation to subjects associated with the environment and global warming.

The project Media 21 Africa : Journalism and climate change aims to inform and raise awareness among the African media of the issues and opportunities at the Paris Climate 2015 conference.

 The conference COP21, or Paris Climate 2015, will take place from 30 November to 11 December 2015.

The landmark report issued jointly by Masdar and its Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) platform on the sidelines of the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27 also shows Africa’s plentiful solar and wind resources could be leveraged to produce 30 to 60 million tons per annum (mtpa) of green hydrogen by 2050, about 5 to 10 percent of global demand. “Africa’s Green Energy Revolution: Hydrogen’s role in unlocking Africa’s untapped renewables,” says the report produced with analytical support provided by McKinsey & Company. Kenya Eyes World Records in Support of Coastal and Marine Environment.

By Charles Ogallo Hundreds of Kenyans took the Weekend of World Clean-up to the coastal beaches after a report named Kenya the second worst polluter of the ocean in Africa. Over 1,000 volunteers’ organizations and individuals came out this time to participate in the annual International Clean-up held at the Jomo Kenyatta Public Beach in Mombasa on 19th September 2009 in what was seen as an attempt to prove the report wrong this year. The Coastal Clean-up exercise was also held in Kilifi, Malindi, Diani, Watamu, Shimoni, Kikambala, Fort Jesus and English Point where hundreds of other volunteers gathered to clear the beaches of debris . According to last years International Ocean Report done by over 148 ocean conservancies in Washington DC, Kenya was named the second worst polluters in the shame list after Nigeria.
