WORLD PRESS FREEDOM DAY -2009
By Kojanews-network “The rights to life and to liberty and integrity and security of person and also to freedom of expression are fundamental human rights that are recognized and guaranteed by international conventions and instruments.” (UNESCO Resolution, General Conference 1997) World Press Freedom Day is celebrated every year on 3 May worldwide. It is an opportunity to celebrate the fundamental principles of press freedom; to evaluate press freedom, to defend the media from attacks on their independence and to pay tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the line of duty. This Year, the World Press Freedom Day (3 May) will be celebrated in Stockholm at Sida, Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, on 29 April, 2009. According to Fojo International, the event will focus on the importance of exile media to report and influence on the development of the countries where press freedom is violated. Gunilla Carlsson , minister for development cooperation, will spea
